Is reverse glass ceiling discrimination at work known as the glass elevator?

Reverse glass ceiling, also known as "glass elevator" is a recent phenomenon due to men entering fields that were historically female-dominated such as nursing. While the "glass ceiling " is the invisible barrier to career advancement of women, the "glass elevator" is the rapid advancement and promotion of men over women into positions of authority. It is essentially differential treatment of the less dominant male employees over the more dominant female employees.

It is still unfair workplace discrimination based on sex if the promotions are being offered to the male nurses solely because they are male. This is an example of disparate treatment, whereby the employer's action of promoting only male nurses is a type of workplace discrimination. This is further evidenced by the fact that all of the male nurses are being promoted.

If you or the other female employees feel that they are being denied promotions solely because they are female, and the employer is favoring the male employees over the female employees, you may want to consider filing a workplace unfair discrimination complaint.
