Hispanic Population Complains of Sexual Harassment

Recently, two female employees of Willamette Tree Wholesale in Oregon were raped and sexually harassed by their male co-workers. When they attempted to complain, they were threatened with pruning shears and were fired for rejecting any further sexual advances.

The EEOC recently filed a lawsuit against the nursery for failing to protect its employees. All of the incidents occurred because the women were afraid to resist. They were illegal immigrants who did not have their papers in order. For many of these individuals, the plan is to lie “under the radar,” so as not to be noticed and deported by the United States government.

For this reason, many members of the Hispanic community are abused and sexually assaulted. Some reports have been made that California- where a great population of illegal immigrants live- has been called names suggesting that its workers are vulnerable to sexual attacks.
