Navy Commander Files Sexual Harassment Suit against Miami Herald Reporter
July 24, 2009
According to a letter that was sent to the Executive Editor of the Miami Herald, U.S. Navy Commander Jeffrey Gordon was sexually harassed by a Herald reporter. The commander claims that he and several other military members stationed at Guantanamo Bay and Andrews Air Force Base were harassed by the reporter, Carol Rosenberg.
Gordon says that the reporter made several abusive and degrading remarks. He says that she belittled him in front of another journalist during the trial of September 11th codefendant Mustafa al Hawsawi, who was sitting on a pillow in court.
He says that she made inappropriate comments about his sexuality. He claims that they were not med in a light-hearted or joking tone. He has threatened to file a sexual harassment suit against the newspaper and against the reporter. However, currently, the issue is being worked out privately.
The letter that was sent to the editor at the Miami Herald can be seen at mediabistro.com.
