Sexual Harassment Employment Law

Many believe that sexual harassment employment law is confined to states only. However, this is not true in the slightest. Most of the laws that were created and are still enforced are done so on a federal level. The organization protecting individuals and enforcing these laws is called the EEOC (Equal Employment Opportunity Commission). This agency makes it possible to get help and file charges if someone thinks he/she is experiencing sexual harassment. This agency was the spin-off body of professionals that are to enforce these guidelines under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act which states that it is unlawful to harass someone sexually in the workplace regardless of the employment level of either or any of the individuals doing or receiving the sexual harassment. Also, many believe that sexual harassment done by a female supervisor to male subordinate is not equal to a man superior sexually harassing a female subordinate; this is very untrue - sexual harassment employment law is taken very seriously no matter who it is done by and who the victim is.
