The work environment should always be one where everyone feels comfortable and is not harassed sexually by another co-worker of equal, lesser, or more authority; this goes for both men and women. Until recently, it was mostly women who reported sexual harassment cases at work and men only consisted of a very small number of overall cases annually. Sexual harassment and the law affect the reputation of the company, the individual, and the victim in many ways. These issues are very sensitive and an instance of sexual harassment on the workplace must be reported and dealt with properly. It is interesting to know that most sexual harassment incidents go unreported due to the victim being afraid of retaliation. Although sexual harassment happens often, it cannot be considered sexual harassment until the accused has been warned at least once and continues the behavior anyway. Sexual harassment and the law stated by the EEOC (Equal Employment Opportunity Commission) protects individuals from being victims of sexual harassment.
