Pregnancy Discrimination

The Civil Rights Act of 1964 (Title VII) was amended to include the Pregnancy Discrimination Act. This act states that no woman may be treated differently than other applicants based on the fact that she is pregnant, has given birth or because of other related medical conditions. Women must be given appropriate pregnancy and maternity leave, as well as lighter duties if required by the woman's physician. Those who are in violation of the pregnancy discrimination act are breaking the law.
